Too bad you guys couldn't produce any useful knowledge... You know I was actually trying to get along with the Vista haters(yes, you've been labeled) but, you've elevated the hostility, again...

Btw, have you tried Dell's drivers for their WLAN cards or their 8600M GT drivers? (Didn't think so)

A lot of ppl bash Vista, but they always find excuses about stability. A lot have just made assumtions mostly from the Beta version. I personally use both Vista Ultimate (when I'm at home) and Home Premium (Its on my laptop which I keep with me at uni which is away from home) and I find it great.

I didn't elevate anything. I simply knew after reading half the first post what the Thread was going to turn into and wondered How long it would take for someone with a Dell comment to show up.

As far as producing useful knowledge, why bother in a Thread like this? Do a search for 'XP VIsta' and find the dozens of similar-Topics. I personally loved the Popcorn and Horse pics that were posted, because, hell they just fit.

You would be correct in your assumptions. However, since it's no secret that I neither:

A) enjoy working on wireless and often refuse service calls to do so, and
B) I have zero desire to have a graphics card of that nature and none of my Clients use their systems for gaming...

...I fail to see your victory in that statement.

XP or Vista? Cookies or brownies? Star Trek or Star Wars? Pooh or Tigger? Elmo or Big Bird? Quake or Doom? Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr.? Peppermint or Spearmint? See how stupid this is?

In closing, label me whatever the hell you want

That's part of the problem, when they do go to search through the threads, they see XP, XP, XP.... And they trust that because ppl put the words Vista, BSOD, Compatibility, Driver error, slow, and unresponsive in a sentence. One of which I have seen but, they believe that and every other forum/blog that doesn't like Vista.

You might be a smart person for that...

Had I not got aggravated with Fedora 8 you wouldn't have seen that comment because I would've kept Linux instead of Vista. But, it takes 20 different operations to install a picky Nvidia driver, and I really didn't know what I was doing...

Well I have some thoughts about Vista and some negative experience using it.
Of course it looks nice and surely it is next big step of Microsoft Co to improve its OS.
My relatives have Windows Vista on their Samsung R20 notebooks. This notes have rather good characteristics but still Vista runs rather hard and slow on them. So the first disadvantage of Vista - it is too resource intensive. My dad had some problems with software installing on Vista. For example he couldn't run Rumors (soft for Forex) without expert support. Second disadvantage of Vista - it is not adopted to all software. For my opinion this 2 disadvantages are main and evident.
I think we all will use Windows in some time just like we started using XP some years ago. They need time to improve it. At the beginning XP wasn't perfect as well as we all remember. Also we need to improve and renew our machines to run Vista.
My recommendation is to be with XP still for some time.

yeah but i've read professional reviews (more of them) that say vista is no good. i have seen few professional reviews saying vista is all that great, so i don't really care if you and your mom are running vista and it's working fine. there might be plenty of things you didn't know that vista is screwing up that a professional can notice. so for me, reading a positive or negative review from an average joe blow, i couldn't care if he used the product or not, it's kind of worthless info to me.

Vista 64bits can support more that 3.5 gigs of RAM
Vista supports DirectX 10 video cards.

besides that, there isnt too much that vista has over Xp. These benefits only really apply to gamers like myself
