Default Photoshop picture copy/paste issues

In photoshop CS3, 1/3 of the time that I copy and paste an image into another canvas, it either screws up the resolution or the contrast, brightness, and saturation settings. I noticed that it only keeps those normal when it asks me, "Are you sure you want to convert colors to a destination document with a color profile that does not match the current RGB working space?". What should I do to fix this? Also, whenever I copy/paste something, photoshop won't allow me to use allot of the adjustment settings; how can I fix this?

for a photoshop image, the standard copy\paste feature is woefully underpowered, try saving the layer, and importing it into the new canvas.

Crap....I would try to do that, but I just messed up photoshop with my noobness. All of a sudden the canvas I had open became really large, taking up the whole space besides the tool bar/s. I can't have more than one canvas open in it any more; help? I need this program to work for me now....

Also, I can't print the multilayer image that I working with either; I can't even save it as a Jpeg, only as a TIFF, Photoshop file, or a few other random files.

OMG, what did I do!

Another thing, how do I unlock a layer? Specifically the background layer?

to print it your going to need to flatten your layer(s).

The reason why u can only save as a .tif or .psd cause you have layers. Save the original and then flatten to save as or print.

To un-lock a locked layer simply just double click the "locked" layer from the layers pallet.

I just figured it out, I think...

The file was made as a 32 bit file; I tried making other blank 32 bit files and they had the same problems. When I switched back to 8 bit, I could print it, and save it as whatever I want. Damn, I guess I'll have to do it over again, unless theres a way to switch it to 8 bit.

Though, I still can't get the canvas size back to normal...

for the resolution thing, use this option

for the color thing, the color changes when you use different color modes. Use CMYK for printing, RGB for screen work.

and why are you using 32bit??? use 8bit.

Yeah, I'm using RGB.

I thought 32 bit would offer higher color contrasts.....I'm a noob, so, I dunno.

I have that option checked, maybe I'm too picky?

How do I reset all settings? I REALLY need to, my canvas is screwed up; it doesn't reset itself each time I open photoshop. I can't use photoshop now because of whatever I did.
