Default Upgrade?

Hi, I just got a new laptop that comes with Windows Vista Home Premium. And I would like to upgrade it to Ultimate. My dad bought the Vista Ultimate OS and has the CD. I'm wondering if it could be possible to upgrade my OS to Ultimate using that CD... would I need a cd key from Ultimate?

You wouldn't be able to use his CD key. You would have to get another one.

You can use his disc to upgrade, though.. if you wanted a fully licensed copy of Vista Ultimate, you could then buy a key directly from Microsoft, or purchase Vista Ultimate OEM from Newegg.com for $180

PS: All you're really missing is Bitlocker (useless to most people) and DreamScene.. There is a very nice DreamScene alternative located here .. currently, it's only for Ultimate users, but v2.0 will be out soon and will be for all Vista users.. and it's free.

Why do you want to upgrade if you already have Home Premium?

Well it was just for the DreamScene really, I fell in love

But yeah, it doesn't seem worth buying an upgrade. Not with that lil difference.
