Unhappy Internet Trouble

I am having an issue with links on my computer. I click on a link, and any that open up over the current page rather than going to a whole new page do not ever finish. The little window pops up and the top right has the link address, but it remains blank. I have tried downloading the new Internet Explorer, removing all pop up guards, and added Adaware to my system. Nothing at all has worked and I am at a loss. It has been an inconvenience and has limited my use on it at all, and it was only purchased about 4 months ago.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

1. Run a thorough virusscan and a spyware scan
2. I'd also reccomend you have a pass with Spybot (it's free and highly effective). You can get it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download

de-install the whole E Exploder be4 you're going to upgrade. you may try netscape 7.0/7.1, mozilla or an opera browser.

you may check script and java settings too, but i guess thats not the point

I have already downloaded mozilla and made it my defaul browser and I don't think I am using Internet Explorer at all. I have done the virus scans and also spy bot as well and found nothing at all. Very frustrating!!
