Well it runs at 540MHz stock, and because I don't have any personal experience with the 8600GT I don't know how overclock friendly it is, however after reading that article I wouldn't doubt it that you could reach 700MHz core clock without volt modding it. The only way to know for sure though is to test it.

haha, if you overclock it too high then the computer will either lock up or reboot, but no physical harm done.
