Default wifi annoyance

Could someone please help me before I run out of wifi connections

I have a laptop with a USB wifi card. It works great! However, when I reboot the computer, it's like the computer doesn't remember the card so I have to reload it. Well, windows does it all, but I get stuck with Wifi connection 7, 8, etc..

Now, this wouldn't bother me too much, but I have no way to remove them! When I had 2000 on this machine, I could just uninstall the card when it went up a number and that would solve it, but that won't work with XP... Any ideas?

Can you go into network connections in the control panel and then right-click on the connection and rename it?

I'll check this when I get home but I was thinking it just said wireless connection there... Either way, SOMETHING is still being kept that it doesn't need for it to keep adding up these numbers
