Unhappy Urgent questions...really simple.

whoever is reading this, you can just skip the big paragraph and just right to the questions...its really pointless.

hey, so i know all about how microsoft determines the activation keys and such. and then i decided to switch out my mobo, and cpu, out of my outdated, sucky compaq w/e. i had problems in the begining being since it was my first major comp. thing. but its up and running now using Windows Xp Home ed. I'm using windows xp home because my compaq originally had it. I just activeated the using the product key on the case. It didnt work so i called microsoft...[for people who have ever done this, you might call a callcenter in India. I'm indian to so it i just spoke w/ and Indian accent and she basically gave out the keys. [i knw its wrong i'm sorry] now let's zoom forword a couple months to today. I have the windows xp PRO oem. and now my questions start.

does Windows Xp PRO have the same 25-digit key[format]:
12345-12345-12345-12345-12345?

I also have Media Center but i really don't know how media center works, so will is it a seperate operating system itself? or is it and add-on?

Can i burn the PRO oem image to a dvd? and how would i install media center? is it a seperate installation?

btw i know the key won't work and stuff but i ccan just call customer service and stuff and tell them i upgraded my computer and the key won't work.

I'm slightly confused...but I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities.

Windows Media Center is not an operating system. Its Microsoft Software that comes with certain Microsoft Operating Systems. I'm not sure if you can purchase it separately...I've heard nothing about this but maybe you can.

Also, good job on the whole "Indian Accent" thing haha. That's pretty funny stuff.

lol thankx.

anyways i got my questions answered, except the one about the product key.

let me rephrase that:
you know how when you install an OS you need a product or activition key? for windows xp home the format is like this. plz note that the numbers are there so as to reference and make it easier:

12345-12345-12345-12345-12345

Does windows xp Professional have the same format? will it be 25 digits? thnx guys

Umm. Windows Media Center is an OS actually. At least this one I have is (MCE 2005). MCE is a "deluxe Pro edition". It takes a different key though.

All the different editions are the same key format, but they all take different keys. An XP Pro retail box key will not work on the OEM. Same with Home and MCE. A Home key will not work on MCE or Pro. I have a version of XP Pro from MS that none of the regular keys will work on it. I have to guard the COA with my life, otherwise the disk is useless.
