Default Transffering OS Licence key to a different computer

Hi, i was wondering i can uninstall my OS (on dell computer) and then reinstall it with the cd key on a new computer..? wondering if that will work out

do i even have to uninstall the old OS for this process to work?

hmm looks like it is not legal... dose that mean i wont be able to get updates if i do it?

thats how im running my system(dont worry, temp install) and no, its not legal
you have to buy a new one from newegg, or microsoft, or bestbuy etc...

it would be the same as it was on the other system
dont do it, its illegal, buy a new cd/product key

Ive done it, calling microsoft and switching key because of a bad motherboard. Im positive going from a dell oem to say a built intel that was not dell will not work. You could switch from an issue from dell to another dell though. the oem is a group license only for dell.
