hey, some guy keeps threatening me with my ip and now i often get major ping spikes and my internet freezes for a while. i have a feeling it is him because ive never had this problem before, or at least not like this. first, is there anyway i can check if it really is a dos attack? and second how can i prevent it?

Briefly skimmed the other Thread you had, but forget specifics.
Call your IP and explain what is happening.

in the mean time, keep your firewall up with tight rules, and close all open ports.

hmmm i think i found a solution, but im not sure. i removed all my forwarded ports and also enable "Block WAN request" on my router. that should do the trick right? i had it enabled cause i use to run a server. he doesnt know i know and he thinks im clueless that hes doing anything to me. but ya do you guys think blocking WAN requests will work? i dont really know what it does but i read stuff on it and it sounds like it should do the trick.

lol. that guy's going to dedicate the next 5 years making your life miserable. probably got some of his friends too.
most likely you have a static ip. just request an ip change. then figure out how he got your ip.... forum posts, gaming, etc? you can probably try peer guardian and see where this ip is coming from. http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ once you figure out the ip then.... fight fire with fire and have an e-war

Anyways, getting IP's is easy, so trying to find out how he got it is almost useless.

and about how he got it, well it was easy for him, we were on a css team together and he was leader, thus he owned all the servers so he could have got it from just about anywhere. i have the ip of one of his friends who is probably in on this with him from when i had rcon and took an "rcon status" screen shot. and about the "e-war" i dunno if thats a good idea cause he probably knows way more than me about this. but ya ive considered it. but it would be easier to run and hide. |

alsooo, i just installed zonealarm firewall in hopes of helping the situation. theres a few things i would like to know.
1. its been installed for maybe an hour or two and it says its blocked over 2100 access attempts. they are increasing by the second it seems. i was wondering how normal this is and what does access attempt mean? 2. there is an IP blocking feature so i need to know how to get his ip. i was thinking of using some netstat command in the command prompt, but i have no idea what im looking for, and he is most likley doing stuff from a proxy, right? |
