Default still slow help!

Hello all my computer was acting very messed up and was being bogged down by spyware and browser hijackers so I completley emptied my computer and I uninstalled and reinstalled windows xp then I installed all of my updates and then installed norton 360 and a pop up stopper from panicware.My internet is through cable by mediacom and for some reason my computer is still running realy slow coming on to the internet and when I open my email wich is also through mediacom.What did I do wrong and what can I do to fix this.All help is much apreciated cheers.

norton will dramitacaly slow down your pc

^ Norton is teh devil. It uses a lot of resources compared to other AV programs, and actually lets quite a bit slip through the cracks. There are some free AV programs out there, and the MacAfee Suite is rock solid.

Most probably it is Norton because of all the security features you have enabled. Try disabling some of them and see if it is still slow. Just don't disable the Antivirus and Firewall.

i agree, but also check if you enable the security for your network, if not, other will conect to your network, which will cause a decrease in speed for your connection.

Thank you for your help guys I uninstalled norton and it works great now so I guess I gotta see if I can return it to the store.

use avast and cleaner i had the same problem it will automaticly speed up and maybe u would liek to use linux
