I dont know if anyone knows about this but i have an acer laptop and lately i have been having an issue with it. every once and a while, the computer screen will get slightly dimmer and the power button will start flashing. i'm not sure what it is doing or why it is doing it but its almost like it is unplugged but it isnt. it still runs on the cord and all i have to do is unplug it and plug it back in. i didnt know if this is something i should be concerned about or if i should just live with it. thanks for the help

when this happens... does the computer indicate that it is running off battery power?

k i think i figured out whats wrong...sorta. well i think its running off the battery because i think it might be overheating. when i unplug the cord it feels REALLY hot. i was wondering if i should be worried about this or what i whould do about it. i dont think that the computer is overheating just the cord.

One thing you can try is to take out the battery when you are using it plugged in. This will not only save your battery performance but also take all the power and direct it to the computer instead of doing computer and battery.

if you are using Vista check your battery, if the condition is good dun buy new battery, battery is naturally hot when you are using it, my laptop now is 1 month old got very hot battery and the cord is hot too, just check your computer battery cell if it is good.....

ok so i was wrong. it just happened again and what is happening is it is running off of the power from the cord and it is draining my battery because it had been flashing for a while and it said at the bottom that it was ac power and so i replugged it in and it says that there is like only 4% battery remaining and now it is charging again

The reason it is running this way is that your dc power jack is going bad. No worries, it will take some time for it to die. The reason it is hot is that one of the legs does not have enough solder on it, so the jack and the motherboard produce a spark about 100 times per minute causing the plug to get hot. To fix the problem replace the plug first, if that won't help replace the dc jack in the laptop. Usually it is a fautly plug on acers that cause the problem in a first place.
