Exclamation Hibernate NOT WORKING

I seemed to have this problem for a while now, but no one can help me.

I have an ASUS motherboard.

Everytime I hold shift to hibernate, i.e. Start - Turn off computer - (shift) Hibernate, it works, only that as soon as it has finished, it restarts again!!!

I tried carefully timing a forced shut down so it can't restart, but it needs to be done just when the black screen with the "Windows hibernate" status dots pops up. It really is becoming a pain.

So, could anyone suggest any changes to make it hibernate and stay hibernated, without it constantly immediately starting back up?

Thanks!

Anyway...

It's possible, though admittedly unlikely in this case, that you have updates waiting to be installed. Hibernate doesn't like to be used when such is the case. Granted, when there are updates awaiting install (already downloaded), the Hibernate option will 'gray out', but I've seen a few exceptions before.

Is it possible you inadvertently changed some settings on either the OS or MoBo? I'd run though a quick double/triple check of all Hibernation-related areas.
