windows live mail and anchor links

A month or so ago I switched to Vista and had to move from OE to Windows Live Mail. That was no problem, however forum subscription emails and giving me trouble.

subscription emails come with anchors to move to the page to the relevant post, but for some reason when I click on them and they open in Firefox the anchor disappears. Is there a setting somewhere that i can't find that defines this behavior.

For example this link:
http://eltworld.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=9294#9294

will end up rendering as
http://eltworld.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=9294

notice the missing #9294

Any ideas?
