Default Do you need full Ver. of Win for new HD?

Hey, i haven't been so sure about this but, do you need a full version of windows to be able to install it on a new hard drive? Win XP Home is $100 at a store near here, and $200 for the "Full Version". Which one do i need?

Thanks
Lunchboxx

if the first one is an upgrade, and you already have a microsoft OS that is eligable to be upgraded, then you can get that. if you dont have one, you need the retail version.

Well its gonna be a brand new hard drive with nothing on it, because the old one died. Do i need the Full $200 ver, or the Upgrade $100 ver?

Do you have a version of Windows Pre-XP (98, 98SE, 2K, ME) on CD? If so, then you will only need the Upgrade Disk. If you have no Pre-XP version on CD, then you will need the full version.
