Default Headset

Ok i was thinking about getting a headset but my friends when he has his hooked up he cant choose to listen through the headset of his normal speakers, its a usb headset by the way. Its a logitech headset but i dont know what one. Do they all do that? Or can you have the headset hooked up and still use your speakers, like is there a way to choose what you want to use without unplugging the headset?

Also i'm not looking to spend a hole lot but whats a good headset for listening to music and gaming one that contains a mic that works fairly well. Id say $25or so. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

USB headsets bypass the onboard or dedicated sound card, so unless you use onboard audio then USB speakers/headsets aren't worth it. As for your question, I've never actually used them so I can't say for certain, but usually you can only have one sound device playing at once.

Yes you can only play 1 at a time. To change what you want to listen to first you have to change your default audio device settings in control panel.

If you get a splitter that slots into the Jack, you then have 2 jack holes connected to the green jack and you can connect your headphones and speakers.

That doesn't work with USB headsets.
