Default Documents on my Laptop

I have documents on my laptop that I need to pull off. However, whenever I try to start the computer up it says that the operating system can't be found. So I am unable to access the documents that are on the hard drive. I really don;t use the computer anymore but need to pull the files off the drive. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Matt

if you have the computer's OS cd you can use the "recovery" option
if your computer has a recovery console built in you can use that to recover the OS
you can take the laptop's hd out and make an external hd

To elaborate on the third option dznutz mentioned...

You can buy a 2.5 to 3.5 HDD adapter. Simple plug one end into the Laptop HDD, and the other end into a desktop IDE cable and you can access the drive from your desktop.
