Question LCD Monitor

I;m buying a new LCD onitor(22"), and am trying to decide between severaql different models. However, I'm worried about the response time. Some of them are 5ms. All I'm doing on this monitor is watching movies, and ordindary computing. Does this 5ms response time matter, or should I get one with 2ms?

5ms should be fine.... you can return it if your buying it from a store if you dont like it.

The only true 2ms monitor that I know of is the LG WTQ. The Samsungs, while claiming they are 2ms, are actually 5ms using an overdrive technology.

no it does not matter. 5ms is fine, except for some hardcore gamers. I'm on a 8ms which is perfect.

A monitor's response times should be considered on a case-by-case basis. There's no universal system of measurement for response times.

It's not like a hard drive or something, where you can say this one is 250GB and this one is 500GB.

A lot of times, 8ms and 12ms panels are just older generations where manufacturers weren't as aggressive with their lies yet. These response times are usually more accurate. For example, 8ms may be the average response time for all color shifts for a certain Samsung panel, so they advertise that. Next generation, though, some yahoo over there says "hey guys look, it only takes 2ms to shift from this shade of grey to this next, slightly brighter shade of grey, let's advertise that and try to pass it off as an accurate description of our panel's speed even though it's not lololol."

Just to add this is keep in mind that contrast ratios differ from manufacturer to manufacturer the 1 in 1000:1 is unknown really...
