You do it under your Avatar instead of your profile picture. Yea if you have the jumpers set right and its still not working and easy to return just get another one.

Go for a different brand and type like a good dvd burner. Then you can burn both types of media as well as playback. Those cd writer/dvd rom combos usually are less quality anyways. With the prices down on optical drives simply pick out a good replacement and you should be all set.
