Angry Needin some help over here

Hey everybody,
Needing some help over here.... I bought a cd burner- finally! Im having some trouble with it. It's a Liteon Cdrw and dvdrom Model LH-521cp. I know I have it hooked up right, Windows detected it, it's not showing any conflicts whatsoever, windows says its working normally. The trouble is that it doesnt detect any discs when i put them in. I tried to burn some music when I hooked it up and of course it says please put a disc in the drive. I have tried cdroms and other burned discs just to see if maybe it was a brand specific issue, like maybe this drive doesnt like my disks. Nothing.... I was however able to play a dvd. I have no idea. I tried updating the driver, maybe audio part of the driver was corrupted, still didnt find anything. I went into my device properties using nero, to me it looked like my cdrom devices were using the same driver, could that be the problem. Thanks for any help or insight you might have!

Melissa

Apparently the combo is only seeing dvd media not cd-rs or cd-rws there. If you throw a software cd in and still have the same problem it sounds like a replacement drive will be needed. The lazer isn't functioning like it should.

Right clicking on the drive listing in an explorer window or MyComputer for directly choosing properties>recording to enable recording or set the default recording device might be the only option other then buying a new one.

I got the model number off the box, I too did a search on it and didnt find anything. Liteons support site blows... I didnt find anything really that could help me so I sent them an email.. ya well they are on vacation til 2-11-08. Im just so frustrated. AARRRRGGGGGHHHH
When I was searching I did find a model that looked just like mine And I tried to dl the driver for it and windows prompted me saying it didnt match my hardware.
It was a Liteon device and the box looked just like mine, 52x CD-RW & 16x DVDROM OK it looks like maybe I left a few numbers off
Model# LH-52CP187C ON an different part of the box theres
CD-R combo 5232/52/16 if that helps. thank you!

Now that model only burns CDs, not DVDs. It will only play DVDs.

I know, that's all I'm trying to do is burn cds. I like to listen to alot of music. It wont detect any disc in the drive other than a dvd. I just can't figure out if it can play dvds then why doesn't it detect a blank disc in the drive or an audio cd or a software cd???

Try going to the Device Manager find your burner on the drop down list and right click on it and click uninstall. Restart the computer and let windows reinstall the drivers and see if that helps.
