starting yesterday my internet access has been acting weird. visiting well known sites like google yahoo and youtube will result in me either getting a "the website address you entered could not be found". however, when refreshing or revisiting the aforementioned sites several minutes later, everything will be fine. in other words i can sometimes access them and sometimes not. this is not limited to these 3 as other webpages have displayed the same erratic behavior.
other times, these same webpages will be displayed half-loaded with the layout of the page in complete disarray. pictures and background images may be blank with links in disarray. i've uploaded some screenshot images at http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/jj34/fudgeout/ on another note i just recently downloaded and installed the latest versions of adaware and spybot. i'm not sure if they are related to this problem but the problem did occur circa the time of installation. i have run scans with these 2 and AVG antivirus and have not found anything. i have since uninstalled adaware and spybot to see if they would have any effect. this is my hijackthis log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:40:47 PM, on 2/9/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgemc.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://yahoo.com/ R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Your logfile appears to be clean, I don't think this is a malware related issue. Try cleaning out your cache if you haven't already done so, but this could also be a hardware problem with your modem, router or network card. You might want to try contacting your ISP and/or posting your issue in the Internet section for better visibility.

i cleared my cache and i don't think it's a hardware problem. my router and stuff appear to be normal. but it's weird because it's not like my entire connection has been cut; i am able to access other websites and not others. then minutes later i can access the ones i couldn't before without having done anything. plus i mentioned the adware and spybot installations which leads me to believe it's more in line with computer security but i will post this in the internet section like you recommended. has there been any reported problems with adaware/spybot recently? any more help would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any problems with Ad-Aware or Spybot, however we can look deeper.
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
Also try clicking on Start -> Run. Type the following command and click OK: netsh winsock reset

thanks for the scanner. i managed to do a scan a few days ago but haven't had the time to post it until now. i tried to run the dss again just now but it will only bring up the main.txt. is that normal? also, now i'm observing a blinking cursor on various webpages where there are no typing areas i.e. adjacent to images.
here is the main.txt Deckard's System Scanner v20071014.68 Computer is in Normal Mode. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- System Restore -------------------------------------------------------------- Successfully created a Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point. -- Last 5 Restore Point(s) -- 78: 2008-02-12 09:22:55 UTC - RP192 - Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point 77: 2008-02-12 06:45:12 UTC - RP191 - System Checkpoint 76: 2008-02-11 05:58:35 UTC - RP190 - System Checkpoint 75: 2008-02-09 23:14:14 UTC - RP189 - Restore Operation 74: 2008-02-09 23:03:10 UTC - RP188 - Restore Operation -- First Restore Point -- 1: 2007-11-15 08:14:59 UTC - RP115 - System Checkpoint Backed up registry hives. Try this:
Goto Start, Run, type CMD, press 'OK' and then type: netstat -b - please post the results here by right-clicking on the Command Prompt window, selecting 'Select All', pressing Ctrl+C, and then posting on this forum. Please download this Patcher (the english version; top link). Run it (choose to increase the limit to 50). Then restart your computer. Test your connection.
