Default COD4 Sound Problem

I installed COD4 on my Gateway 702GE server.
And when I try to launch COD4, it says something about my sound and drivers not being up to date. I went to the site, downloaded the driver, installed it, and get the same problem.

It also mentioned something about DirectX update, the computer has a 7900GS in it, so I updated it, still no luck.

I don't mind not having sound, since this will be a server, but I may have friends play on it, so I would like the sound.

I am on Windows Server 2003.

I also tried setting the launch settings to 'engine -ep1' since that worked for me when I installed COD4 on my gaming PC.

Thanks.

I had an error like this once. I restarted my PC and everything was fine.

Err isn't that a launch setting for the SDK of HL2?

Default COD4 on a server

Hi,

As far as i'm aware, Windows 2003 server has some issues with game play.
Maybe try running windows update to see if there are any updated microsoft verified drivers available. Maybe upgrading the graphics card to an 8000 series chipset which will run direct X 10 will help?

Hope this helps,

Dave

The engine launch settings made my COD launch on my gaming pc.
I am not going to buy an 8800 series for my server, lol, I have one in my gaming pc.

Anyways, thanks.
