Question Cooling CPU

Hi,

My CPU has been getting hot here in Aus with our hot days. My computer shuts down and i have had to reload windows once and it has crashed my file system and was able to repair it.

Now i need better cooling because it gets very hot and then shuts down. as i speak my CPU is sitting on 70, 71 C.

Now is shut down about 2 mins ago and then i ran the CPU temp application and it said 81C so i need better cooling i have had the side of the box of for more cooling.... do i need more fans and what would be the best to get???

Any help would be good.

The computer i go to - to get my stuff is: http://www.msy.com.au

There is a price list on there.

MSY it is a top store hey i get everything from there they are also sooooo cheap.
so im guessing since u got it from MSY u built it!
did u rember to put thermal paste on your cpu b4 u put the heat sink on, or did the heatsink already have it on there cos if there is no paste that would explain them temps.
oh an ill tell u now them shaw cases are SHIT.
restore defaults in the BIOS settings just in case for some reason it is OCed or given to much volts or something.

Unfortunately there are no separate sections for different items to look over like case fans, cpu coolers, even a selection of cases offering better air flow. The lack of that will see all temps soar while just seeing a good cpu cooler and a few fans added would help but not solve everything.

On one old build here the case allowed for only two 80mm fans rear and top with no front or side vents seen. The fan on the cpu cooler quit and the sink was cheap there. When replacing the board to upgrade the new board first saw 48C until moving everything into a new case with a 140mm front intake and 120 rear to see 31C!

The cpu first saw 46C and then saw only 33C fast after the new case was bought. The main thing was the increase in air flow overall or spending on a liquid cooling system. For the cost there are even air conditioned cases.

The lowest price seen so far here in the U.S. is about $180US at http://www.xoxide.com/nextherm-air-c...ed-no-psu.html to give you an idea on that. To replace the current case here being an Antec 900 model,

I would be taking a second look. At one of the links there the Antec P160 is listed seeing a 120 rear fan included and the option of one for front intake. The manufacturer's page can be looked over at http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81600

At least they carry Zalman CNPS 9700s on the page seen at http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/Promotional_W.htm

Question

Ok - well my brother has the same one and it is fine.

Also the paste the CPU fan already had the heat sink on it.

If anything i want a cheap box or a better cooling system.

I'm also in Melbourne Vic.

That's where the Antec and Gigabyte case were both looked over by the way! The only cooling for the cpu however is the water cooling setups advertised. That would be the ThermalTake Beetle Cooler and Cooler Master Aguagate Mini R80 liquid cooling kit. Those are seen at http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/clayton_W.htm
