Laptop screen would not appear...

my friends laptop screen would not come up ...

i have no idea what happend

all i know is this happend after he downloaded limewire and start download music

the power would turn on

but screen is black

is there somekind of a virus that do this?

i expect the window opening sound but i would not even hear that

any solution or thoughts about this problem?

Do you get a display when you first turn on? i.e during the bios boot? have you tried hooking up an external monitor to it?

yes i have hooked it to my desktop screen

but nothing appears nothing is shown nor i hear any boot sound

you have to hit a key on your board to get it to switch over to the external monitor????

usually it auto detects it, if not its usually one of the function keys (fn + f4 for me) if you dont hear any boot sound then thats not good! at this point your only option might be to take it apart and try different ram/reseting the cmos etc
