Codec Problems...cant burn DVD's anymore

hello, i am in sort of a situation here.
I have been "backing up" some DVDs recenty. Yesterday I used Cucusoft (I barely ever use it) to convert a bunch of AVI's into DVD format and burn them. Anyways, I chose 6 avi shows to convert to DVDs. It said I neeed to update some codec stuff so I did. After i did that "FFDSHOW" popped up on my toolbar 1,2,3,4,5 and sometimes 6 times so i THOUGHT i had a virus.

I found the folder that ffdshow was in and uninstalled the stuff. It was in and "Essential Codec Pack" codec folder.

I went after that and tried to used Windows DVD maker (Use this alot) to backup some of my AVI and put them on DVD. But it came up saying it wouldnt work because I didnt have the right Codec stuff. I went and downloaded the stuff again thinking it would work again, but nothing works anymore. My AVI to DVD programs arent working or anything.

Does anybody have any options to what I can try?
