Default DVD/CD face plate replacement

So I'm taring apart a store bought gateway and I want to use the optical drives but they don't have standard face plates, they have these bulky plates that are meant to fit its case. Any options to replace it with a more standard face?

thanks

ya that occurred to me but I pretty sure the bulky plastic pops off, I got the cover on the tray off I have to pull the drive to see how the rest come off. Between the two drives its like 60-70 bucks I'll save, it worth a shot...

The front clips that hold it on has to be in the same places, plus the eject buttons would have to line up and the LCD light would have to line up too. and the door cover on the other plate would have to attach the same way

I would think that it makes more sense to build custom faces plates that can fit a standard drive, that way only the face plate cost extra.

I think I can find an old drive somewhere and used its face, I'll do it tomorrow during the build. I was just hoping this was common knowledge on a pc forum.
thanks for the replies....
