Default DVI to HDMI - Audio not working

I have a mediacenter I built. It has a MSI motherboard and MSI video card that was recently changed to accomdate HD. I also have a Sony Bravia HDTV. Because the LCD does not have DVI, I had to get a cable that converts from DVI to HDMI. I can get viedo without any issues, but I get no audio. I have the single jack plugged into the mediacenter and the white/red plugged into the audio on the back of the LCD, but no sound....so question is, do I need a different sound car, do I need some sort of adapter or can I possibley get away with getting a DVI to Composite cable and picking up sound that way? I plugged earphones into the audio jack to make sure sound on the mediacenter was working and it is, so bascially from mediacenter to LCD, sound does not want to transfer through.
