Default modem version number?

im trying to upgrade my Linksys modem (BEFSR41), but after the model number there is no version number for me to use to get the correct firmware. i know that it is at least a few years old if that helps at all.

Try looking again to see. Usually you will just see the letter "v" with a number behind it.

You'll need a magnifier and very bright light to see it, because it's in tiny print. I mean really tiny.

been awhile but...

i just bypased the router and went straight from my comp to the modem. i get 8mb DL and 800kbps UP. when i go behind the router i get 3.8-4mb Down and 350kb up. the cox guy came out and looked at it and said that our line is great, and that the linksys router (BEFSR41) is one of the first ones they made of that style. and i looked again and still found no version number of the hardware.

would it hurt anything if i just tell the system it is a version 1.0 and dl the latest for that version?

i went on there site and found that the firmware # for box version 1 and 2 are the same. 3 is different, and i am pretty darn sure is not 4.0, 4.1, 4.

## EDIT: i just had a thought. why would they put a version number on a first "FIRSTversion" product? right? this thought reassures me that it is in fact a version 1 (i think)
