Default Need Fan Help

I am ordering a 80mm case fan soon to provide my case with more air intake. I am looking at something like this.

80mm case fan

Where do you plug the fan into, the PSU or the mb? I want to ensure that I can power the fan before I order it. Thanks.

You plug the Molex connection into the PSU for power. You can plug the 3-pin connector into the mobo to monitor the speed.

No problem. When are you gonna build this rig?

If I have the money, I would like to build the rig this summer. I know by then half the components will change but I am updating as time progresses. I want to have about a $1200 budget.

You should be alright with that budget. The 8800 GT, for example, will still be a great card and the price will probably be lower. By then, all the 45nm processors should be available giving you a good selection to choose from.

Another thing. Once I power the new case fan with the 4 pin molex and plug in the 3pin connector to monitor the speed, where can I actually play with the speed settings?

Thanks

You can use Speedfan. Also, the fans in the 900 have three speeds. There's a little switch that hangs off of each fan. Where do you plan on installing the 80mm fan?

I do not have the Antec 900 yet, the 80mm fan will be installed into my HP computer that I have currently. I do have speedfan on my computer now and have not found where you control the speeds of the fans. I just use the program for temperature monitoring and I know my case/core is running too hot.

I plan on installing the fan on my side vent right above the CPU, mostly bc my case has NO intake fans!!!! How awful, I know. I cleaned allot of dust off of my HS and HSF last night and with the addition of this intake fan hopefully it will lower my core temp.

Another question. Are side vents made to fit to most fans? Hopefully the holes will line up correctly with the fan and I can properly attach it to my case.

Thanks.
