Hey guys, I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 530 with a 22'' screen 2GB memory ATI Radeon HD 2400 video card. I have only had it for a month and theres already issues with it. When the computer goes into 'Stand-by' mode is when the troubles start. When I try to bring it out of stand-by it won't do anything I end up having to restart my computer. Just today while surfing the web it locked up everything and restarted itself. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

![]() To the OP, were these problems there from the beginning, did they just happen, or did they kind of 'phase in' to get to the current state? I would start by making sure all drivers are up-to-date (Windows Update). Have you contacted Dell about the problem yet? They have a Live Support option on their website; just plug in your Service Tag and you can chat with someone via IM-style chat. Sometimes, computers (pre-built and custom alike) can be faulty due to any number of reasons, just like new cars can be lemons. If you just bought it, there should be a warranty with it and worst-case scenario, you could probably exchange it for another system.

Thanks for the reply's, to answer imsati- It happened the 3rd day we owned the computer, then just kind of does it on a regular basis now. I attempted to contact dell via chat today and I was #36 in Que so I didn't feel like waiting but I will def. try them again. Now to answer dougland- When its in stand by yes I press keys, move the mouse, click the mouse and it just sits there with a blank screen, with the power button on the PC flashing. One thing I have noticed when it comes out of standby mode the screen switches between 2 things 1 says analog and one says digital. It displays this in the top left corner of the screen.

What input are the mouse and keyboard? If they're USB try a PS/2 keyboard/mouse.

Just make certain that the case doesn't have security tape on it. If it does, then it will distort once you open the case; open case could mean voided warranty. If no security tape, then go for it.

giving ideas is as easy as saying you don't know... i also said they aren't the best to buy from (from personal experience, it's just an opinion) so grab them panties before they bunch. Dell has some good laptops, I'm actually using a Dell right now, it's just over past experience with this dell, and some friends... they aren't out to satisfy your very needs, they just give you bare minimum and hope everything goes ok, or so it seems. You probably know more about computers, but your people skills need a little work. If you were an admin of some sort I would be more respectful of your "do's" and "don'ts" but I could care less.] I wish I could be more like you
