Default Connection Problems

Hello,
I have an Inspiron 600m that will not connect through the ethernet cable. Got the latest drivers from dell. Went to control panel and the NIC is on, cable works on other computers but I get "network cable is unplugged" on this one. Any ideas? One other thing, don't see any lights from the NIC when I plug the cable in. Shouldn't it be flashing orange?
Thanks

do you have a warranty? You might want it to get checked out by the manufacturer, seems like a fried connector

You could also try resetting the cable modem/router and then Repairing the Connection via your Control Panel. Has the internet worked before on this or is this the first time you're trying?
