Default

The screen resolutions are set once you have video crivers/software installled. Evem in XP the default vga drivers seen in Windows should see at least 800x600 or even 1024x768 available. 800x600 in safe mode with a crt.

Some system information on that system would help in locating any video driver updates still available depending on age, make and model if prebuilt not custom, or looking up archived driver sets according to the make and model video card.
