Default Computer keeps shutting down

Umm my computer keeps shutting down. Yesterday it shutdown due to overheating. I opened it up and cleaned out all the fans which had a lot of dust that was blocking the cooling process. But now for some reason when I turn on the computer after a little while at random times it turns off by itself. I'm not sure what the problem is I've cleaned out the fans, I checked and both seem to be working fine. My computer overheated in the past once and shut down but after I cleaned out the fans and let it cool down for a couple of hours it worked fine. Any guess what the problem might be?

I apologize if I've posted in the wrong directory, I wasn't sure where this will fit.

did anything to your computer before it started crashing?
change the hardware, installed something?

You didn't try to overclock your cpu did you? Because that could cause it. When it shuts off are you playing a certain game or just surfing? I would just go buy a better fan and see if that helps.

When and where does it shut off at? Under load or at idle?

You must like wasting money.

Take a household fan and open the case up. Turn it on high and use your computer. Observe and post what happens.

Umm nope, I didn't install any software/hardware or anything. It shuts off at random times, but very soon. Sometimes it shuts off before windows even starts at other times it shuts off after desktop loads and everything. Well it kept shutting down so I tried switching the button under the power switch from 115 to 230, if that's what you mean by overclocking but the same thing happened, so I switched it back.

No, that's not overclocking. LEAVE IT AT 115 IF YOU LIVE IN THE US!

Did you check that all fans are spinning, and that the heatsink is making full contact with the CPU?

Umm, yea I figured that out lol. All the fans are spinning by the way. I tried opening the case and putting some fans on high near it, it worked fine. I've closed the case and turned off the fans and it's still going. So either it's the longest it's stayed on or maybe one of the cards was loose because one seemed out of place and i pushed it in a bit. It's working fine for now, if it happens again I'll post again in this thread. Thanks for the help.

It might've been shorting or so. I'd download PC Wizard 2008 and check your CORE/CPU temperatures to just be sure though.

I moved it back to the it's original place and the same things happening again. Maybe it's close to the wall and the fans having problems sucking in/pushing out air. I'll do the core cpu temperature check.
