The 8500GT is a very low end card (behind the 7600GT), and having over 512MB of VRAM is pointless on that kind of low end card. Also, theres really no point in having two low end cards, you would be MUCH better off getting a single higher end card.

Or even a mid-end as you mentioned, the 7600GT would probably perform better in games than 2x8500GT...

Yes thats a great card, but I would go with the 512MB version.

The X1250 is a HORRIBLE card, when you are looking at video cards, don't go by memory size.

NVIDIA 8800GT 512MB DDR3 320BIT 1800MHZ That one? Is that better than the 1024 version? Also will it be able to run games properly for a while to come (Call of duty 4 etc etc will it run them fine?)

the 1024MB version is simply supposed to perform better at higher resolutions, but the 512MB is already good enough for resolutions 1600x1200 and better I think. So, at the price, the 8800GT 512MB (or even the HD3870 512MB) is really the way to go. Unless you have no budget, go with the 8800GTS 512MB.
