Default Hook-up?

Let me start out by saying sorry that I'm inexperienced with computers. I was wondering what I need to consider when purchasing a new optical drive. I want something that can burn dvd's. I need to know if there are any specifications in my system that have to be met for a new drive to be installed. I have open slots and currently have a ATAPI DVD C DH52C2P which PLAYS dvds but doesn't BURN them. . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

welcome to the forums Computer(Issues), as for your question, dvd writers does not require any special requirements to use.
probably the only issue would be if that you had a very old pc and you were using a new dvd writer.
Am assuming you have a decent pc so it will work, you can post your specs if you like.
Right-click on My computer then go to "properties", on the "general" tab, and where it read computer. it will give you a short description about your pc..
