whats a good processor speed/type

im a noob at laptops and would like to know what a good processor speed is and type.

It depends on what applications and programs your going to use. I suggest a Intel Core 2 duo over an AMD Turion. The Turion is cheaper, but it does not perform as well as the C2D.
2.0Ghz should be fine.
