Default E8400 out of stock?

Just curious, since it's been out of stock for a while without a restock date on newegg. I know the 8800GT used to be out of stock quite often too, but I always saw a date for when they expected more. Is there anything different going on with the E8400 other than just high demand?

i was going to ask the same thing. this is what newegg told me

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

Unfortunately this item has the look of an item that's been discontinued. There have been no new orders placed for the item since 02/04/08. At this time either the item has an indefinite time period in which it will be back in again, or our purchasing department has determined to no longer carry the item. This could be because the item is no longer available from the vendor or a number of reasons. We apologize for the inconvenience.

That really came from newegg!? That's the hottest CPU on the market at the moment. There's no way Intel would discontinue that product.

I hope that isnt true. With all the sales I guess Intel has figured they priced it too cheap and might let greed take over.Hopefully thats not the case.kinda like the way Opec controls the petroleum prices.Create less supply to create more demand and higher prices. If prices keep going up people will bite the bullet and go ahead and just get the qx9650 or one of the other quads when they come out.

I found another website that has the E8400 in stock for only $206.81. Alot cheaper than anywhere else I have found. Of course the shipping could be outrageous. Here is the link:

I am thinking about buying one while I have the chance.

Shipping is $19 so they are still cheaper than Newegg. Man this is so tempting. I would like to buy everything from Newegg since they have such a good reputation.

Okay, what is the difference between these two processors:

http://www.dealiverable.com/ssproduc..._id=1011154679

The first one is 20 bucks more. To me they look identical except for the part number and the SKU number.
