Angry New PC boot problems

I built a new pc,everything was fine, software all loaded running fine.
Now when it starts to boot it will go through the splash page and no farther.
I can get into the CMOS and everything looks good.I tried booting from the XP cd and get the same results. My system is Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Intel-E6750 core2 3 Gig Crucial ballistic 12864AA1065r WD Sata2
Zotac-ZT-88TES2P-FSP8800GT video

I think that I may have a bad video card???
Its like the video card isnt seen after the cmos splash screen. Thanks for any advice
Tod May

Got the PC to start from the Windows xp cd. It goes as far as the Blue screen of death. Then it says aproblewm has been detected and windows will be shut down to prevent damage to your computer then it says: Page_fault_in _nonpaged_area. Any idea what this means? Is my HD dead?
It also says at the bottom Stop: 0x00000050 (oxc284000,0x00000000,0x8080B20D,0x00000000)

Thanks again I suspect a bad HD . Thanks Tod

Corrupted OS as said above. Your GFX works if it even displays something.

Have you tried booting into safe mode yet? It sometimes works.

CAUSE
This problem may occur if there is a conflict between Windows XP SP1 and the display adapter drivers that are currently installed.
