It depends what your looking to do with the card. If your into heavy gaming or just casual gaming but you want to watch movies. Give us some info about what you use your computer for and we can help you find some good choices.

We still need more information. What games are you planning to play? Generally a HD 3850 is a nice budget card that will perform well in most games. An 8800GT/GTS or HD 3870 is geared towards heavy gamers.

What would a good car cost?

We need a LOT more information here. Are you wanting to play the newest games such as Crysis, TF2, CoD4, etc? Or are you wanting to play some of the older games such as HL2, CSS, CoD2, etc? And also, how much are you looking to spend?

There are no consumer cards that cost that much, just workstation cards.

I would say the 8800GT or 3870X2 would be your best bet.
