Use headphones at all? That simulate 3D sound when using a set of stereo headphones. You can enable or disable that depending on what you are listening to. music, games, tv tuner, movies, etc. there.

The Xtreme Audio is basically an Audigy SE that simulates x-fi sound through softwares. The Xtrememusic is one of the original x-fi cards, but is now discontinued and is taken over by the Xtremegamer.

so the xtremegamer is the old xtreme music and those acutally enhance ur music and the xtreme audio just uses software to make it alittle better? so i basically just bought 72 dollars of software? What would be a better card, because i want a good in game expeirence and i want my music to sound really good and actually split into surround sound, and i want it under $100
thanks mike

With either card the sound is good. But watch out which update you install since Creative mixed a Vista update on the XP support page some time back. I saw XP in your sig and wanted you to be aware of that little item when using the installer's auto updater, going to the MS support site for optional hardware/software updates, or directly to Creative's own support site.
Vista drivers were installed automatically on the XtremeAudio causing problems looking like the card or software disk had a flaw. When the Gamer model was later put in that also ran into the same problem due to their goof up at the support site. They have since corrected that goof up with a combo set for XP and Vista. For the Xtreme Audio model, http://us.creative.com/support/downl...pe=0&x=26&y=10 For the Xtreme Gamer they now have a separate update for XP and XP 64 seen at http://us.creative.com/support/downl...pe=0&x=18&y=12 The July 2007 Vista web updater3 was finally removed!

Supposedly the Gamer sees a higher specification while the Xtreme Audio still sees the same 3 modes for the audio control panel being the game, entertainment, and audio creation modes there. Between a slight software change since those came out the strictly XP software first seen had a slight change in appearance there while all of the same functions were seen.
The audio processor on the Gamer sees the higher specifications while you might never notice that with many things. Other then that I could still be running the old Audigy 4 Pro on Vista here rather then the newer model to see the same results while others point to what they hear while gaming. The 3 different models being tested with the same speaker set that is. WMP 10 in XP still sounds the same.

thank u. 1 last question in the xpand mode it seems sometimes like its alittle choppy with the music. The lyrics will be in front of me but then it will kind of fade every so often. What could be causing this? Also, what should i expect during games as far as better audio because i just played cod4 and it seems pretty much exactly the same

Are you talking about the audio creation instead the gamer or entertainment modes?
![]() Once in that mode it seems the EAX or EAX simulation is gone as well as other tonal changes since that is more for audio recording purposes seen there. Most gamers will simply use the gamer mode while the entertainment is preferred here for everything. The Sound Blasters always have a good sound while the specifications you may not even notice are higher on the Gamer and Fatality models. While the Audio was in here it still had a typical SB quality but was removed due to the Vista drivers going onto XP problem mentioned before. It nows sits in it's retail box simply as a spare card in case it's needed here or simply to go into another system.
