Default D-Liink USB adapter

I have a dlink wbr 2310 usb wifi adapter that I'm having a rather large problem with. The adapter stops working generally in the middle of a download, and then when I try to restart my computer it hangs indefinitly on the "Shutting Down" screen. I have all the latest drivers, i've uninstalled both the adapter and windows several time and it doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas? i'm running vista:/

Thanks

I took off the plastic casing from the adapter and stuck it inside my computer next to the main intake fan.
Didn't appear to help, still dies on me.

So i guess it's off to best buy to get either an internal card or a different brand of usb adapter.

There's no reason to use a USB adapter on a desktop anyway. They're more expensive and not as good, plus they make that safely remove icon show up in your tray. They're for laptops, along with everything else that's more expensive and not as good.

Just get a D-link or Linksys PCI card. If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area you can get one for 30 bucks. Maybe 45 or 50 if you get it at Best Buy.

You could always order one too.
