ok when i just run vista i use about 50 % of ram, if i run a game i use 100%, if i run a few programs i can easily get it to 85 % of ram usage, it seems to me to take the full value of the quad u need to have 4 gigs if not 3gb . does this seem true to any one?

The more memory you have, the more memory your programs will use. Generally 2 GB is enough for Vista. However, if you have the money, go with 4GB. It's not that much more and you won't have to worry about running out of memory. I currently use 4GB and use about 35% of the memory when running WMP, firefox, aim, xfire and photoshop.
