I got a 36gig 10K HDD, but my Mobo doesent see it on boot up. It sees my IDE, but no the SATA. I have no idea whats happening, do I have to do something in the BIOs, or sholdn't the board at least see it as a slave or rimary? I have a P4s8x. I'm trying to get the 10K to be my windows drive. PLEASE HELP ME!

there is no slave or master with SATA also probably you need to set it to auto or sata in the bios menu.

Hello
I had somewhat of the same issue a week ago. What i was trying to do was plug an ide hard drive into a sata port via a ide/sata converter. You must enable to ports in bios. Also first try setting jumper on ide drives to master, if that dont work remove the jumper of the ide and try booting. That was my issue, western digital drive. If you need more help let me know. |

If its a fresh windows install, you need the drivers for the SATA controller on the mobo, and you will need them on a floppy, so when you install windows and it asks you to hit F6 if you need to install third party drivers, HIT F6, and install your drivers. Some boards, even thought they have RAID controllers built in, only allow you to use the ports when you use TWO drives to set up an array. I messed with mine for a few days, before calling the manufacturer and finding that out, and the guy affered me a voucher for a SATA Controller Card to fix the problem.
