Default Advice Please On Video Editing

Hi

Can someone helped me with this problem, I'm making a short movie, and I want to do a lot of video editing, for now I have been relying on Windows Movie maker (Vista) but I would like something more fully loaded with effects, I was looking at Pinnacle Studio 11 but I have read mixed reviews on it and now I am not sure, so can anyone recommend a good video editing program like windows movie maker but 10 times better.

Will be buying it in UK (GBP)

Thanks
