Monitor help. LCD monitor to a laptop Monitor.

Hi, I am trying to connect my LCD monitor to my Laptop. What i want is my laptop display on my LCD monitor but it doesn't show any of my icons. it only show my desktop background. And when I drag my mouse to the right it goes over to my LCD monitor. So its like 2 monitors. Does anyone know how to display my laptop to my LCD?? let me know. thank you

Right click your desktop>Properties>Display settings>Select monitor 2 and set it as your main/primary monitor.

It really depends on the software that is running the graphics. Some can run either monitor independently or the second monitor acts as an extension of the laptop screen, as in your case. Check either nvidia's or ati's software depending on the integrated graphics you have on the laptop.
