download new drivers for win xp and install them. This should fix the problem.

You probbably just upgraded the instalation. It should be fine. Installing the sound drivers will fix the problem. If you want to be sure, open up windows media player and try to play a sound file, It should come up with some error like "can't find sound device, Please make sure the drivers are installed properly" or something.

During the installation of WXP you hgave have the option of reformatting the destination partition. If you use that option you'll be able to "get rid of" WME
