Default windows xp help

hello, I have a dell vostro 1000, 1.7ghz, with 2gb of ram and 100gb hard drive. the laptop orignally had windows vists 32-bit on it, but i used the cd dell gave me and i deleted the partition on my hard drive that had vista, and then proceeded to install windows XP from the cd. everything installed without error, and i have updated all of the drivers that the auto-update said i should, as well as installed the device drivers from the dell cd they gave me. the problem is that, XP is running slower than when I had vista, i have a delay on everything I do, opening browsers or anything, and especially while playing games, my fps is decent, but there is sufficient lag and performance issues, with the graphics turned down, and i have a ati 1150 integrated graphics card, which ran better in vista than in xp for some reason. Everything seems to run slower with xp than vista, with a lot more space and way less processes running, do any of you know any drivers or programs i could check out? please and thank you.

well what you should start by doing is check to see that you actually got all of the drivers installed like you thought you did. Go to Start > Control Pannel > System > Device Manager and that should bring you up a list of all of the hardware in your computer. Check to make sure that nothing has any yellow exclimation points or question marks next to them.

The only reason vista is better in this instance is because it has a bigger driver database. In all honesty i think new driver databases should be released through windows update.
