Default need help fast

Ok, so I own a Gateway M-1615 Notebook and today I was online and a blue screen came up with some writing and then shut down, I didnt have time to read it.

So I let it cool down, and in 10 minutes I restarted it to get a message reading a disk error has occured, press ctr+Del+Alt to restart. So I did some research and found out that maybe booting the install disk and running the repair might help. So I tried to boot my cd with the cd drive first and got this exact message....

Intell UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corp

For Realtek RTL8100E/8101E Fast Ethernet Network Adapter V1.02 (060529)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.

A disk read error occured
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???? Help me

XP or Vista ?

I have seen that one with the infamous Vista updates that are saying 3 of 3 and reboot all the time, after awhile that was the exact error message. Can't say if this is what it is but it looks like it.

The last 2 laptops that were having the problem, i had to reinstall and they were with Vista.....

I did not wanted to reinstall but i didn't have any choices. Microsoft recommend using the Vista CD but it didn't seems to work.

If you can get an adaptor to connect the laptop drive to an IDE or SATA cable you'll be able to save your important data and then reinstall.

I know that i'm not really helpful but i'm trying

Have you try to put your laptop drive in another computer as mention in my previous post, you can use Hiren's Boot CD to test it and also save your data. That's what i'll do before saying that it's time to get a new laptop (whick is always nice to have)

Good Luck

I just bought a Gateway laptop, too with Vista. Mine crashed yesterday, and I'm trying to find my task launcher or reinstall it. I'm lost when it comes to these new computers. (My last one is a 98.) What's the file supposed to look like? Does anyone know?
