I doubt we are allowed to use the flash, and yes, Im just using the stock lens. Is there a better recomendation for a lens I could get locally? (Trial is Monday) and I would be shooting people.

For your case, a faster lens gives u more flexibility. If you can afford a f/2.8, get it!
