Default 5400 to 7200 rpm upgrade worth it?

I have a 1.6Ghz cpu, 533mhz ram, 5400 rpm laptop. I maxed out the ram, and am not messing with the cpu. I want to increase the speed of the computer, my friend says the order of importance is ram/hd/ and cpu last. He says my computer will be be a lot faster if i go for 7200rpm. It will cost about 100 dollars, for a computer that originally costs 500. What are some of your your opinions?

It will help your load times and increase the paging speed but your friend is full of crap The CPU is more important than the hard drive in terms of performance.

Just curious, what has better performance, 800mhz fsb with 333mhz ram, or 400mhz fsb with 533mhz ram.

I would lean towards the faster FSB but the CPUs involved would make a big difference

Sometimes scientists make things alot harder than they need to. All they've gotta do is put a big spring on the ground where they think it's gonna land, or send a mission to the moon to erect a sign that says "Welcome to Earth".
