Default What do you like in a game? Survey + Comments

You will see why I am doing this later... Maybe even as late as the end of this year. I am trying to put this around a war RTS game...

1) Do you prefer resource management or tactical warfare or both?
2) Do you like the idea of unique units?
3) Do you like customizable kits, weapons, etc.?
4) Do you prefer fewer, more unique factions, or more, player-specific factions?
5) Do you have games you play when you're just relaxing and then have games when you're playing hardcore?
6) Does a game have to have good graphics for good gameplay?
7) Is AoE3 or AoE2 better? (Plz Explain)
8) Is the multiplayer component a must-have in an RTS game?
9) Do you prefer to control computer games with your mouse, keyboard, or both?
10) Should there be a unique environment for each faction?

Now, you're almost done, and thanks... Will you explain what you like to see in a war RTS game? What is your idea of a good, modern war RTS game?

Thanks a bunch

1) Do you prefer resource management or tactical warfare or both? definitely a game more focused on the warefare aspect, but i do like to be in control of my resources

2) Do you like the idea of unique units? yes. the experimentals in supreme commander are a perfect example

3) Do you like customizable kits, weapons, etc.? depends on the game.

4) Do you prefer fewer, more unique factions, or more, player-specific factions? more unique without question. starcraft IMO got the mix perfect

5) Do you have games you play when you're just relaxing and then have games when you're playing hardcore? naw, not really. i dont ever play online if im just relaxing because i always try to do well against others and i take it personally if i cant at least hold my own

6) Does a game have to have good graphics for good gameplay? no, but it definitely never hurts. its more "candy" than anything else, really

7) Is AoE3 or AoE2 better? (Plz Explain) havent played 3 so i cant say

8) Is the multiplayer component a must-have in an RTS game? YES without question. once you get comfortable enough with the AI to win on a regular basis, the multiplayer aspect is what keeps the game alive... look at starcraft for example. it was made in 98 and tons of people still play.

9) Do you prefer to control computer games with your mouse, keyboard, or both? FPS to use both obviously, RTS mouse only

10) Should there be a unique environment for each faction? it depends on the game. you cant really say yes there should be or no there shouldnt be, its entirely dependent on the games storyline and the factions involved

1)Define this but I assume you mean cod1 health or cod4 health, in which case 1 is more realistic but 4 is funner (yeah, I said it). So lets go with cod4, you dont have to program in health packs .

2)no

3)no, yes. crysis' GUNS, not the suit.

4)Few factions.

5)Nope, all games are hardcore...ok ok c&c, thats not hard core >.>.

6)Once again, look at cod4, it has both...and crysis.

7)Never played either.

8)Yes, needs multiplay.

9)Both.

10)Different environments is nice.

Now the real reason I spent the time to answer that. Are you on ANOTHER project? What happened to the hundreds of others? Like your openoffice rip, or that software to stop theft of said software?

Actually I have ppl working with me on this one... And those projects are the opposite of dead... And my preventative way of stopping modification of this software, was easier said than done but, it's working...

[quote=INTELCRAZY;910117]You
1) Do you prefer resource management or tactical warfare or both? - Both, however the option to disable resource's would be nice (for a fun game to mess around in ^^ )
2) Do you like the idea of unique units? - Most definately, then you actually have to think where you put wich unit
3) Do you like customizable kits, weapons, etc.? - Only if the units can carry more than 1 kit with them, else I think it could get annoying really fast
4) Do you prefer fewer, more unique factions, or more, player-specific factions? - Fewer more specific ones.
5) Do you have games you play when you're just relaxing and then have games when you're playing hardcore? - Yup
6) Does a game have to have good graphics for good gameplay? - Yes and No. look at it this way, when you're busy, busy, busy building etc, you wont notice, but once you have to move units from 1 side of the map to the other side, and keep track of them, bad grafic's really bring a game down.
for example, I really love Homeworld, but I dont play it anymore (tried it recently, but the bad grafic's really kept me from getting into th game )
7) Is AoE3 or AoE2 better? (Plz Explain) - Honestly couldnt say, havnt played either of them.
8) Is the multiplayer component a must-have in an RTS game? - No, at least for me it's not
9) Do you prefer to control computer games with your mouse, keyboard, or both? - Both, like said, I'm a really big fan of homeworld, mainly due to the control of it. (3d movement, and a relative complex setup)
[/b]10) Should there be a unique environment for each faction?[/b] - No need, but a nice variety of maps would a good idea. (look at maps for TA, I recon those are quite good )

Will you explain what you like to see in a war RTS game? What is your idea of a good, modern war RTS game? - A good war rts,.. well, battles on a massive scale I found to be interesting so far. (rome total war etc) because you gotta keep track of the big picture in those kind of games.
the C&C games are fun, however I Always end up just building a load of mamoth tanks, and just overrun the other base, wich (yea) gets boring really quick.
